Powder Coating is the fastest growing Finishing Technology in North America.
Powder Coating is a superior finish found on hundreds of items we come into contact with everyday. Medical equipment, Lawn Furniture, Weight Lifting Equipment, Tools, Office Furniture, Ornamental Iron, Light Fixtures, and so much more.
Powder Coating offers the Industrial consumer, House hold consumer, and the Hobbyist a high quality extremely durable alternative to Liquid Paint, that is very attractive and affordable.
Powder Coating is available in a broad range of colors, glosses, and finish textures. ( IE: Smooth, Wrinkle, Hammertone, Antique, ECT).
How Powder Coating Works
The Powder Coating material is a combination of finely ground particles of pigments and resin, that are sprayed from a gun. As the material leaves the gun, it receives a positive charge, the part that is being coated is grounded, the powder is attracted to the part with static electricity the same way your sock sticks to your pants when it is removed from the dryer, we call this Electrostatic. After the parts are coated they are placed into a oven at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined amount of time, and the powder will flow into its attractive durable, chip resistant finish.
Your Parts To Be Coated
Before this can be applied to your pieces, there are steps that take place before the coating process.
When your items are brought into BK Powder Coating, our staff will determine what prep work needs to happen before your items can have the coating you desire.
Your parts may need Sandblasting, this is for pieces that have rust, old paint, and mill scale.
Your parts may just be oily and require the Iron Phosphate wash with either the a pressure washer, or the dip process. This procedure conditions the metal for the finish that is required.
Your parts may require some masking to take place. If your items have threads, or have machined surfaces, we keep those areas protected, before the powder coating finish is applied.
